Director Works and Services
City of Mandurah
Allan commenced his engineering journey with a traineeship as an Engineering Assistant with Main Roads Western Australia in 1973. Inspired to attain higher qualifications and become a civil engineer meant leaving to join local government to continue his professional development and continue university studies.
Over 30 years he has had various roles in both metropolitan and rural local governments together with a period of ownership of a small business. The small business experience has been instrumental in bringing a commercial business experience to the roles in local government.
Allan has a commitment to lifelong learning which has resulted in further post graduate studies in business, engineering and transport. Allan was recipient of the 2010 WA Professional Engineer of the Year.
Non Executive Director
Robert Ryan has worked as a Civil Engineer for over 40 years and has a broad background in Civil Construction in both private and public companies. He has worked in Western Australia and the Northern Territory on rail, road construction, road asset management and maintenance, earthworks, marina construction and business/people management.
Robert joined the Nudge board with a desire to support an organisation providing mentoring and training to people in regional Western Australia who would otherwise not have the opportunity to gain experience and employment.

Ralph’s experience covers 46 years in the state public service and covers consumer protection, industrial relations and training. Ralph’s involvement in Nudge continues because he believe it is making a positive difference in supporting young people who would not otherwise get an opportunity to pursue a worthwhile career in the Civil Construction Industry.
Executive Director, Regional Services
Main Roads WA
John has been with Main Roads for 31 years. He holds a Bachelor of Engineering (Civil) from the University of Western Australia. His Directorate is responsible for road asset management, network operation and maintenance and capital delivery outside of the Perth metropolitan area. These services are delivered from Main Roads’ nine regional offices.
John’s career has included working extensively across regional Western Australia. This, together with the responsibilities of his current role, gives him a keen interest in promoting and sustaining civil/road construction and maintenance capability in regional communities.
Director Procurement and Contracts
Metropolitan Redevelopment Authority (MRA)
Paul is currently the Director Procurement and Contracts at the Metropolitan Redevelopment Authority (MRA). Paul joined the MRA after a career in the IT industry focussed on procurement, change management, ERP system development, M&A, and upstream/downstream logistics.
