Road Maintenance Trainee

The successful candidate will be working in the Road Maintenance team. This team is responsible for the maintenance of the road network to meet Main Road Western Australia (MRWA) specifications. Key tasks would include but not limited to:

  • Assisting the Crew Leader in the general maintenance of the Main Roads Network including but not limited to, landscaping, debris removal, and restoration of the road network identified defects as directed by the supervisors and responding to fault reports and emergency response as required throughout the day
  • To understand and determine vehicle speed and distance and be able to work on high volume high speed roads and ensure the application of appropriate traffic management and a safe working environment for employees, subcontractors and road users.
  • Manual handling of all key tasks under the instruction of the SWMS and Work Instructions.
  • To ensure that all instructions provided by the Crew Leader are followed whilst meeting the MRWA Specifications and within DM Roads procedures & policies
  • To ensure that daily checks are conducted, tool boxes are attended and pre-starts are completed daily.
  • Ensuring that vehicles are loaded as required for daily tasks and loads are restrained accordingly.
  • Accurately completing time sheets, reports and recording and reporting of maintenance data through the computerised Asset Management System.


Certificate III Civil Construction Apprenticeship

As part of this role, the successful candidate will be undertaking a Certificate III Civil Construction apprenticeship across the first 36 months of employment. An apprenticeship is a great way to become qualified by learning on the job from those who know the ropes. You’ll earn money while you’re gaining your qualification, and get real workplace experience.
