The Nudge Good News Series – Matt’s visit to the Midwest

From Matt Paki, Nudge Manager Service Delivery & Mentor.

Recently I travelled to Geraldton in the Midwest region, to meet two new trainees who commenced with Lendlease (Main Roads WA maintenance contractor). Lendlease (Midwest and Wheatbelt) over the past 5+ years, have employed several civil construction trainees with Nudge’s support.

The relationship between Lendlease and Nudge is founded on the mutual goals of encouraging trainees and supporting their learning and development.   Some of the daily tasks undertaken by trainees are litter crew, maintenance and works, signage and general support to sustain, to a high level, the road network in those regions and towns.

Jake Baker and Trent Mallard are Lendlease Midwest’s two new trainees, and for the past 4-5 weeks since commencement, they have been kept busy with a variety of tasks and duties, including overnight stays regionally, whilst on the job.

Lendlease Lead Supervisor, Lance Root shared, “Both Jake and Trent have settled into their roles well and we’re happy with where things are for them at the moment.  We look forward to supporting them further throughout the traineeship program.”

Jake and Trent shared their enthusiasm and both are learning new skills and challenging themselves.  “It’s been good – I’ve been kept busy and listening to instructions and I’m really enjoying myself”, said Trent. Nudge look forward to supporting their growth in the coming months with the Lendlease MW crew.

Geraldton and the Midwest is a beautiful part of WA.  The coastal proximity and access to beaches provides a great place to live and work.   I always enjoy visiting the area when the opportunity arises.
