Aboriginal IT Support Opportunities

  • Nudge is working in partnership with Capgemini to take on three entry level Aboriginal IT Service Desk Engineers
  • The successful candidates will undertake a variety of internationally recognised training courses in line with the IT industry
  • You will work at Capgemini in their Perth Office in an IT support capacity for a number of their business partners.
  • This is a great opportunity to EARN while you LEARN and break into the IT industry as well as office-based work.

Service desk Engineer – Entry level

The purpose of the role is to provide support to Capgemini’s business partner’s on their computer problems. This can include support for technical software, hardware and network solutions.  Your tasks will include but not limited to:

  • Help with the diagnosis of what the IT problem is
  • Help/guide the customer to work through the solution or fix the problem
  • work as part of a team of 5-10 people to provide the support to the customers

Skills, experience and knowledge

This is an entry level role – there is no expectations that you have worked in IT before. However there is an expectation that you are willing to learn how to do what is needed.

To better help you with this role and all you will learn Capgemini are looking for people who;

  • Can get into the city for work (opposite Elizabeth Quays train station).
  • Has experience in customer service (retail, hospitality or other roles where you are talking to a range of people in the community, or you feel comfortable talking to people over the phone).
  • A keen interested in computers or tech – gamers are encouraged to apply! do you use a smart phone? can you solve most issues on yours?
  • Able to communicate well both verbally and written
  • Like to problem solve
  • Can follow instructions (go through the initial trouble shooting lists)
  • Can look things up on google – research how to do things
  • Can work well in a team
  • Is confident to ask questions when they don’t know. (e.g. Seek support and don’t try to do everything yourself – admit when you don’t know.)
  • Can work in an open planned office (lots of desks and chairs in one large room)

What is a traineeship?

As part of this role you will be undertaking a variety of internationally recognised Information Technology and software training. A traineeship is a great way to become qualified by learning on the job from those who know the ropes. You’ll earn money while you’re gaining your Certificates, and get real workplace experience.

  • Be willing to undergo a pre-employment medical including drug and alcohol test to attend some sites
  • Be willing to provide a national police clearance – this is a requirement of the job.
