Here at Nudge, we have created a Good News series to share all the successes and good work related to Nudge. We will be doing one good news story each week (we need some good news at the moment) – please keep track of our socials to stay up to date.
The current COVID-19 situation has had an impact on all countries, industries and people – and that includes mentoring and our delivery style. The Nudge mentors are doing a fantastic job respecting social distancing, by mentoring remotely through virtual processes. Please read below from Nudge Manager Service Delivery and Mentor, Matt Paki:
“The Nudge mentors have done a fantastic job to adapt and reinvent how we engage, the timings suitable, SMS, phone calls and various apps and technologies. We understand that the health and wellbeing of ourselves, both physically and mentally, is very important also – and so the utilising of virtual meeting spaces and video conferencing has been a focus and tool used well by mentors over the past 5-6 weeks.
Some of the tips and supports we share with trainees (aside from what is happening in the workspace) include:
- Having regular breaks from social media and to mute things that trigger worry.
- Practice good hygiene – i.e. Washing hands with soap for at least 20 seconds.
- Drinking at least 8 glasses of water daily trying to eat more fresh and healthy foods to boost bodies and immunities.
- Sleep – try to get good sleep, of at least 6-8 hours.
- Be aware of your own personal space.
Our mentors are highly experienced people, the common factor being a genuine interest and passion to support young people in achieving the best that they can. When trainees succeed, we all succeed!”
Please keep track of the Nudge socials in the coming weeks as we will be profiling Nudge mentors and share their skills and experience.
