Dwayne Drayton is the current Ertech trainee and commenced in January 2020, Dwayne is completing a Certificate III Civil Construction Plant Operations Traineeship.
Ertech is a strong supporter of trainees and apprentices, having founded the Ertech Construction Academy (now Motivation Foundation Civil & Mining Academy) back in 2008. Ertech offers a range of options for those wishing to enter civil construction work, providing great opportunities for those starting out in the industry.
For 5 months, Dwayne has been driving in and out (DIDO) from Perth to Boddington, where he is stationed for his traineeship with Ertech. Dwayne has shared some insights into the work he has undertaken so far and how he is enjoying learning new things in the DIDO traineeship. Living on site and adapting to camp life has also been a learning curve for Dwayne.
The positive aspects of the experience and the opportunity so far shared by Dwayne were, being able to provide for his family; making the time, when he is at home, special and meaningful; working alongside great people and colleagues, the site leadership and employer in general. Dwayne is well aware of the real challenges associated with this type of DIDO traineeship, something he shares and discusses with his mentor, notably being away from family for extended periods of time, as well as adapting to the roster and learning structures on site.
Matt Paki, Nudge SD Manager and Dwayne’s mentor, had this to say: “DIDO Traineeships are not common, and certainly require a different focus for the employer and trainee – actually, for all involved, to ensure that the traineeship is successful. Dwayne has adapted and found a good rhythm that works for him and his family”.
Congratulations to Dwayne and Ertech. Nudge is proud to share another good news story.
