On 20 February 2020, Nudge, together with Armadale Access Alliance (AAA) comprising of representatives from Laing O’Rourke, BG&E and Main Roads, hosted nine Aboriginal candidates at the Main Roads office in East Perth for Nudge’s Work Readiness Training (WRT).
The candidates have applied for Certificate III Civil Construction traineeships offered through AAA for their Armadale Road to North Lake Road Bridge project in the City of Cockburn.
Nudge’s WRT is part of the overall Nudge process, where Nudge prepares pre-screened, interested and suitable candidates for what to expect from a new traineeship opportunity.
Candidates who attended WRT said:
- “The WRT gave me personally a better understanding on what a civil construction job is about”
- “I love that we got a chance to meet the interview panel before, the communication was great”
AAA’s Aboriginal Participation Coordinator, Amanda Inman said:
“It was great to meet the candidates, showcase our Digital Engineering and have our project team provide an overview of our project. The participants had some great questions for us and it is going to be a tough decision when selecting the successful trainees.”
Nudge Executive Director, Ash Little said:
“Nudge exists to engage, prepare and support trainees and our employer partners, like the AAA team, and we take great pride in the work that we do to support positive change in the lives of young people”.
The Armadale Road to North Lake Road Bridge Project is underway and will provide several traineeships for the duration of the project.
